Additional Information for Volunteers

GHC in Pilsen: Gads Hill's Pilsen site, located at 1919 West Cullerton Street, has ample parking in its lot behind the Center's playground. The Pilsen site is accessible by the #50 Damen bus, as well as the Damen stop of the Pink Line train. The Pilsen site is open for programs Monday - Friday, 8am to 8pm during the school year. Summer hours are 8am to 6pm. There are special opportunities for Saturday service.

GHC in North Lawndale: Gads Hill's Child Development Center is located at 2653 West Ogden Avenue, next to Mt. Sinai Hospital and within Sinai Community Institute's Center for Families and Neighbors. Parking is available on Ogden Avenue, and also at the Hospital garage on Washtenaw Street. Two CTA buses stop near the Child Development Center, the Ogden-Taylor bus #38, and the 16th-18th Street bus. The Center is also accessible from the Western and California Avenue buses. The site is open year-round from 6am to 6pm.

GHC in Back of the Yards: Gads Hill Center's site within Cesar E. Chavez Multicultural Academy is located at 4747 South Marshfield Avenue, and is accessible from the Ashland bus. Parking is available on neighborhood streets. Gads Hill's programming operates from 2:45 to 6pm.

Background check: Program volunteers must undergo an Illinois Department of Human Services background and fingerprinting check before starting work with children at Gads Hill Center. This is a State of Illinois requirement for anyone working with children.
