Gads Hill Center is currently seeking volunteers for the following opportunities:
Mentor for New Horizons
New Horizons is offering professionals of the Chicagoland area the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life. New Horizons mentors engage in a relationship with a middle school student for a minimum of one year and help him/her to develop trust, self confidence and improve academic and social performance at school.
Requirements: Applicants must be 21 or older and must pass a local, state and federal background check. Mentors will meet with the student once a week (minimum) for two hours. A minimum of one year commitment is required. Mentors will also attend periodic training sessions. Sessions will take place either at our Pilsen site or at Orozco Community Academy.

Tutor Mentor for Teen Connection
Tutor Mentors work with college-bound youth who participate in Teen Connection. Some Tutor Mentors work with a specific teen, assisting with school assignments, college applications, and other school work. Other Tutor Mentors serve as floaters. A floater may help teens with homework in a particular subject area, such as English or math, or work to identify colleges or careers with the students.
Requirements: Tutor Mentors must make a weekly or monthly commitment for an entire school semester. Teen Connection hours are Monday - Friday, 3 - 5 pm for our 7th - 9th graders, and 5 - 8 pm for 10th - 12th graders. Service is at our Pilsen site.

Club Learn Tutor
Club Learn Tutors help with elementary and middle school students with homework after school Monday - Friday, 3:30 - 5 pm during the school year.
Requirements: Available for an hour of service between 3:30 - 5 pm on a weekday. The ability to make a regular commitment is preferred, but not required. Service can be at our Pilsen, North Lawndale, or Back of the Yards site.

Club Learn Aide
Club Learn Aides help Gads Hill staff supervise and lead small groups of children during field trips, supervised play, crafts and educational projects, computer time, and homework. Aides assist with various jobs including, preparing snacks, reading to a child, supervising dodge ball, or chaperoning a field trip.
Requirements: Available for an hour or more of service between 3pm and 6pm on a weekday. Volunteer must be able to make a regular commitment. Service can be at our Pilsen site, North Lawndale site, or Back of the Yards site.

Child Development Center Program Assistant
Child Development Center Program Assistants assist teachers in conducting curriculum and program activities. Various jobs include reading to children, helping with art projects, or supervising playground time. The Child Development Center is open from 6am to 6pm.
Requirements: A desire to work with young children. Service is at our North Lawndale site.

- Do you know an art supply store that is discarding inventory?

- Does your school, church, or social club need a project?
- Would you like to organize a holiday gift tree at your place of business or club?
